Is Lawry’s Seasoned Salt Gluten-Free?

Lawry’s seasoned salt does not contain any gluten ingredients, and Lawry’s has replied to consumer inquiries saying that they are gluten-free. However, Lawry’s is not certified gluten-free and we have heard that celiac support groups recommend not using this product as well as a reader writing in to say their daughter has had a reaction to Lawry’s seasoning salt. So, proceed with caution – especially if you are highly gluten sensitive or a celiac. In fact, we have had a few readers (who are celiac) write in (see comments below) and say they had a reaction, so beware!

    I recently had a reaction. I have celiac and haven’t used it in awhile since my diagnosis. Had it recently and I am paying for it now

    Lawry’s Salt is AWSOME! Great on steamed veggies and a MUST in mashed potatoes.

    Lawry’s makes me sick too. It’s possible it is gluten free but the proteins in corn can cause similar reactions for celiacs or anyone sensitive to gluten or wheat proteins. Besides GMO corn, Lawry’s and Morton’s season salts also have GMO sugar in them and often MSG under one of the many other names that allow them to claim they are MSG free. You can make your own, just mix up salt, onion powder, garlic powder, turmeric, and paprika. You might choose to add some other spices as well, whatever you like. I like to add ground red pepper.

    I also had a reaction to this salt and I use it every now and then. This was the first time I had symptoms from eating it.

    This is the second time I used Larry’s seasoning salt, I got sick in 5 minutes, nausea, diarrhea, itching, anxiety, headache. I don’t know if someone had the same experience like me. I haven’t been tested for IBS or gluten intolerance yet, I’m waiting for my GI’s appt.
    I am on a gluten free diet 2 month, all my syntomes are fading slowly, I hate that feeling.
    Even Larry’s seasoning says it doesn’t contain wheat, I don’t trust it, I read there is gluten hidden in the ingredients.
